Composite or Tooth-Colored Restorations
Composite restorations use tooth-colored material to restore teeth with cavities or replace a broken amalgam. Once the decay or old material is removed, the tooth is filled with a composite resin polymer, which is then cured using an ultraviolet light to harden the material. Since these fillings are placed directly into the tooth, they can be completed in one visit.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of ceramic material used to create the natural appearance of teeth. To place a veneer, a small amount of the original tooth enamel must be removed. Once the veneers have been crafted to an individual’s specific smile preferences and design, they are placed over the teeth with an adhesive that is cured to the tooth.
Porcelain Crowns and Bridges
A crown is used to entirely cover a damaged tooth. Crowns are used to protect and strengthen teeth that have been weakened by a large filling, crack, fracture, or have had root canal treatment. A crown can also greatly improve a tooth’s appearance, shape and alignment. A bridge is a way to fill a space caused by a missing tooth. It consists of three or more crowns that are bonded into place using the teeth on either side of the space for support, hence the name “bridge.” A bridge that replaces missing teeth restores function and appearance. Porcelain veneers, crowns and bridges are indirect restorations and are usually completed in two visits.
Partial Dentures
Removable Partial dentures can be an option to replace several missing teeth. Partial Dentures are custom made over a series of appointments by a local laboratory and usually consist of a metal framework that’s covered with gum-colored acrylic. The teeth are chosen to match your existing teeth. Depending on the design that is crafted specifically for you, your partial denture will clasp to your existing teeth and may be able to be made in a flexible way that can avoid any metal.
Full Dentures
Removable full dentures can be an option to replace an entire arch of teeth. Just like removable partial dentures, they are made by a local laboratory using the highest quality materials. Dentures are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and to maintain a person’s natural appearance. Dentures should improve a person’s smile and enhance the fullness of the facial profile. Dentures can be used in combination with dental implants to make them more stable.
Root Canal Therapy
when a tooth gets infected, irreversibly damaged by a large cavity that invades the pulp chamber, or fractured leaving the nerve exposed. The canal or canals are cleaned, disinfected, dried and then filled with a biocompatible material called gutta percha. A root canal procedure allows the tooth to be saved rather than extracted.
